Acknowledgements
Living outside the UK has made genealogical
research much more difficult for us. Without the resources that are
available through the internet it would be virtually impossible. Many of
the websites that we use are produced through the work of volunteers and
we would like to thank all these people for their hard work. We would
also like to thank Graham Browning, Sheena Carmichael, Rick Lincoln and
Jill Ashdown
for sharing their personal research with us and finally June Baker-
Dobson and many other generous individuals on county mailing lists for
all their help and advice.
Two books which we recommend for people who use
the internet for their research are The Good Web Guide to Tracing Your
Family History
and The Good Web Guide to Genealogy
these two books are a goldmine of websites and
useful research tips such as where to find military records and wills
online or where to find obituaries and passenger lists.
